Full, Full Weeks

We're off to a great start this fall. Jack has basketball clinic and Sal has swim team on Mondays, Jack has baseball practice on Tuesdays, NOTHING on Wednesdays, Sal has bowling and Jack has baseball practice on Thursdays, Fridays are free and then baseball games on Saturdays. I LOVE when schedules work out!!! :-)

Baseball is going well for Jack. He's really progressing. He still gives me the 'I don't wanna go' thing when it's time to stop doing whatever and get ready for baseball, but seems he needs to give an opinion on EVERY little thing. :-)

Sal's doing well at school and really loving swimming. She really works her but off in the water. We're going for goggles today. :-)

Jack has a new friend, Anthony. But Sal insists on calling him Matthew. :-) He came over after school and they did their homework together and now he stops in the morning so they can ride to school together on their bikes. He's a handsy kid and actually picked up my camera yesterday and took a picture! I was appalled at how brazen he was! Jack got an earful about how HE better NEVER do stuff like that at other's house. :-)

What a Weekend!

It's been a fun weekend. Sal turned 12 on the 14th and we "partied" on Saturday, after Jack's baseball game. Aunt Jill came up on Friday afternoon and brought Ottie. Mabel showed him all around (as far as her chain would reach) :-)

We all went to watch Jack's Fall Ball game (basically a scrimmage) on Sat morning and then at 12 the bouncy castle was put up and there were children in it till it was taken down at 7 pm that night. :-) We had hot dogs and chips and ice-cream and cake (Sal's very favorites). People from the neighborhood came and went and the kids played ALL day. It's so nice to have kids in the neighborhood that accept Sal and treat her as one of them and not a step below.

We garage saled on Sunday - another favorite of Sal's. SHE was just one big smile ALL weekend!

Uncle Mike is doing well. Aunt Jill gave us the scoop - he had a bedsore and a UT infection so they have to wait for all that to clear up before his next surgery. It's all cleared up now, so they go for a consultation this week for the surgery. I'm not exactly sure what the surgery will do.

Aunt Jill is weary of all the back and forth with the Dr's. I'll tell ya - if you don't think we need insurance reform - maybe you should spend a day in her shoes. It's just UNBELIEVABLE what it's like.

Aunt Jill got home ok last night and was even greeted by Tiny. He's taken to traveling again - with the weather being cooler. He can't stand the heat. :-) He and Miss Kitty ended up in Golden last week (a good 7-10 mile hike). Grandpa loaded Tiny up in the truck and took him back home. I guess he rides with his head in the wind like he's in a parade or something. Poor Miss Kitty rarely gets rides home because she's usually out of site. :-) Wouldn't you LOVE to see video of THOSE travels. :-)

We do the swim team (Sal) and basketball clinic (Jack) tonight. Sally is really loving being involved in this team. Things are going amazingly well with them and their schedules. I even have daycare lined up for them just for tax season. Gotta love my neighbors! :-)

So, for this week, life is good. :-) That could all change in an hour. :-)

Sooooooo Much

Well, I haven't blogged for a long time, huh? Truth be told - I've been angry. Not your normal 'ticked' or on a high horse - but REALLY angry and struggling. So where to start.....

Going backwards: Sal and Jack have started school. Sal is in Jr High now!!! It seems unreal that the tiny baby that wore doll clothes (she was 5 pds) is now in Jr High and is *quite* big. :-) Sally has taken on weight since she was potty trained. I do believe it has something to do with her "holding" herself - and she does this a lot. :-( But I digress... She LOVEs school. She's going right down the street to Hubert Humphrey and so far so good.

Mr Bob picks her up on the "shorty bus" every morn and yesterday she got on and I heard her say to someone in the back "oh, you're here - I missed you yesterday" !!!!!!! OMG! She's growing leaps and bounds - but yet there are those times - like at the dentist the other day when it becomes PAINFULLY obvious how MUCH we have to do.

Jack is Jack. More mouthy this year and I have to *remind* him a LOT that I am NOT his buddy and he cannot speak to me in the tone he does. He came home on Friday and announced that he hated 3rd grade - because they had homework on the WEEKEND!!!! Gasp!!! How WILL he survive. :-) EVERYTHING is a fight with him - and the really exciting part is - I hear from EVERYONE that it only gets worse!!! Oh Joy!!!!

So about me being angry. Well, it's my faith - not that I've lost my faith - I haven't - I've really come away from the whole dogma thing - the whole *religious* thing. I've also had some MAJOR lessons in people. Ok - try and follow me on this:

*I* have always been told how nice it is to be with me because I'm so "open" (for lack of a better word - "not fake") I always took this as a "nice thing people say" (like how are you - they really don't *mean* it - they just *say* it) Because we're all fake. Well, we put on "airs" depending where we are. Like - most of us don't fart at work - or tantrum - or burp - that kind of thing. But I never realized that some people are REALLY fake. Like want the world to think one thing but LIVE - *totally* different. You know, you read it - you see movies about it - it's *other* people - not people in your life that do this - right? Well, because of facebook - I'm seeing that people I really know well are quite the pretenders!!! I even got called on the carpet for being me.

Those that know me - know that there are certain people that I kid a LOT with. One of those people did NOT like that I did this in the open(facebook) and called my husband and "tattled" on me!!! It was HYSTERICAL! I've NEVER encountered grown ups that so RADICALLY pretend. I know, I've lived in a cave evidently. It really ticked me off - at first. But when I stopped tantruming (my childish reaction I try to work on) I realized how really SAD it is.

I don't know how or who or what made me the open this is me kind of person but thank you Lord. Funny, now that I think of it - I couldn't be that way if I wanted to - Sally would SO call me out!!! :-)

Sally - we've started going for a walk when she gets home. We have a new schedule - she goes to school 45 min earlier than Jack and so gets out 45 min earlier - so when she gets off the bus I get her to go potty, put Mabel on the leash and we set out. It's a nice one on one time plus, this way we can all have after-school snack together. Even though the last two times she has stowed away munchies to eat on the way. Yesterday she even took a cup of juice. :-)

The mornings are heaven. Each kid is really out of their elements - Sal's gone before Jack can start the bickering. And since he can get himself ready - I'm done after Sal gets on the bus. So I get almost 45 minutes to get ready on my own!!!

Jack is taking his bike to school now. (3rd graders up can take their bikes). When he asked me about his lock and chain (which cost more than the bike itself) he was amazed that I had never had a bike lock or chain.
"Didn't you ride your bike to school?"
"oh, Yeah all the time. But we never used locks - we knew everyone and knew every one's bike"
I got a look complete with huge eyes and he said "Wow, Mom, where the heck did you go to school?" (I just shake my head) ;-)
